wobabybasics was created by Sherry Poon after the birth of her first child.  As a parent, designer, and environmentalist, it became important for her to redesign essential baby clothes to be sustainable and stylish, without compromising performance and quality.

Similar to the construction of its namesake, wobabybasics (“wo” means “nest” in Mandarain Chinese) is about beautiful, practical and natural design applied to babywear.  From soft organic clothes to wear beside your skin to unique hand-knit knitwear for warmth and comfort, wobabybasics designs for what really matters – your baby, your environment, and your community.

The knitwear is lovingly hand-knitted by a women’s cooperative in Northeast China under the direction of the Catalyst Foundation, a U.K. non-profit organization that creates work opportunities for women in need.  The women work in self-managed groups and make decisions in a democracy, creating self-esteem and strengthening communities.

wobabybasics adheres to the most stringent international labor standards and strongly believes in a sustainable business model balancing profitability and philanthropy. Its goal is to make the world a better place for our children and to show our children how to be better in this world.
